Member's meeting
A members' meeting took place in a packed St John Ambulance Hall, where
future plans for the campaign were discussed. Projected tax rises were once
again explained, with such factors as the Olympic bid, re-banding and the
revenue support grant applied to the figures.

Berjis Daver, co-founder and chairman of the HCTC, announced he will be
standing for election as an Independent MP for Harrow West in order to
highlight residents' concerns about council tax and other matters. As a
result he has stood down as chairman.

tax hike
A public meeting at the PADCA hall was well attended, with resident's
hearing about factors that will probably double the amount of Council Tax we
pay in Harrow over the next few years.

AGM 2004 report
The first AGM of the HCTC took place on 27th July at the St John
Ambulance Hall in North Harrow. The well attended event saw the acceptance
of a constitution an plans were discussed to take the campaign further.

Leader Archie Foulds resigns
Archie Foulds, leader of Harrow's Labour group and leader resigned last
night to be replaced by Navin Shah.

Since the Council Budget was set in February, the HCTC committee has
concerned itself with organising the long-term future of the campaign, as
there is clearly much still to be done. We now have a constitution and plans
for the future, to be settled at the first AGM.

Local Election Results
HCTC is not a political organisation, but nonetheless campaigned actively
during the local and European elections to ensure that candidates and the
media were well aware of the residents' views, and taxation and spending
plans remained an issue.
